Heritage candidates march on against fear, overtake Republican concert
Yerevan--Heritage candidates for parliament led by Raffi Hovannisian
continued their campaign through Yeghegnadzor, Malishka, Vayk, Jermuk,
Sisian, and Shinuhayr.
`There is no party flag greater than the Armenian tricolor,'
Hovannisian said, speaking to a large crowd at Yeghegnadzor about the
atmosphere of fear, which is especially thick in the republic's
villages. Declaring the citizen as the highest rank of the republic,
the Heritage leader vowed to defend the dignity of all Armenians
against election fraud and the temptations of bribery.
`When it comes to election violations and falsifications,' he added,
`everybody will be called to account.'
At Sisian--where a concert organized by the Republican Party
overlapped with the scheduled 5pm assembly for Heritage--Hovannisian
marched onto the stage and took the microphone, delivering a powerful
message against fear to all the townspeople who had been herded there
by the ruling party.
Head of Heritage headquarters Khachatur Kokobelyan, MP Zaruhi
Postanjyan, Heritage Vice-Chairman Ruben Hakobyan, and former
vice-speaker of the National Assembly and political prisoner Karapet
Rubinyan also spoke during the meetings.
