115TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF YEGHISHE CHARENTS CELEBRATED THIS YEAR

2012 is a year of anniversaries. Armenia marks the 500th anniversary
of book-printing. Yerevan has been proclaimed World Book Capital 2012.
Besides, this year marks the 115th birth anniversary of great poet
Yeghishe Charents and the 100th anniversary of his literary activity.
On this occasion the General Education Department of the Yerevan
City Hall will organize a number of events in cooperation with the
Charents home-museum. The events started on March 13, the birthday
of the great poet.
According to Lilit Hakobyan, Deputy Head of the General Education
Department of the Yerevan City Hall, the events will be held not only
in Yerevan, but also in different regions of the country. These will
include concerts, lessons, exhibitions. Charents Days will be held
in Artsakh, as well.
