ISTANBUL'S ARMENIAN CHURCH REGAINS STATUS OF FOUNDATION

Turkey's Directorate General of Foundations has made a decision
to return the Istanbul based Armenian lyceum, Holy Cross Dprevank,
to its former status as a foundation.
According to Hurriyet, the decision was made at the Directorate's
board meeting on Wednesday.
The decision was announced by Laki Vignas, one of the board members,
who extended his congratulations to the Armenian community.
The principal of the lyceum, Hayak Nishan, also expressed his content
with the move.
The Armenian lyceum ceased to be a foundation in 1985.
Under the board's decision, the school adjacent to the Istanbul based
Armenian church of St Gregory the Illuminator, and the Armenian
cemetery, were also returned to the Armenian foundations, CNNTurk
reported.
