    THE HEAD OF WRITERS' UNION OF ARMENIA LEVON ANANYAN DEEMS ARMENIAN NATION OWES TO SHIRAZ

    YEREVAN, APRIL 26, ARMENPRESS: April 27 is the anniversary of renowned
    Armenian poet Hovhannes Shiraz; he would be 97 year-old. Each year
    Writers' Union of Armenia initiates a range of events dedicated to
    the life and activities of great poet.

    "Shiraz was conscious of his talent; he was not the poet of kings'
    but the king of poets' " the head of the Writers' Union of Armenia
    told Armenpress reporter. In the words of interlocutor Shiraz works
    bear national ideology in them. Shiraz is the author of more than
    forty poems and translations. In Ananyan's opinion poets' works due
    to their rich vocabulary, emotional style saturated with enriched
    national and dialectical elements are considered one of the best
    examples of Armenian literature. It is not accidental that most of
    his works are told to be masterpieces even by critics.

    poet's name, as well as hails to publish the complete edition of
    Shiraz works.

    On April 26 Writers' Union of Armenia has organized a visit to Komitas
    Pantheon-Park. Samvel Muradyan's "Hovhannes Shiraz" monograph is
    scheduled to be launched in Writers' union of Armenia in the framework
    of events.

    The book was published in Los Angeles under the auspices of Hovsep
    and Karolin Nalbandyans and was dedicated to 500 anniversary of
    Armenian Typography.
