The Armenian Police has reconsidered the accusations over the Harsnaqar
restaurant's deadly incident that involved a clash between security
guards and military doctors.
According to the Public Information Department of the Police, the
charges brought against the detainees under Article 112.2(1)(6)
of Armenia's Criminal Code (Infliction of willful heavy damage to
health) have been replaced by charges prescribed by Articles 112.2
(6)(14) [Infliction of willful heavy damage to health by a group
of persons, which caused the death of the aggrieved by negligence]
and 118 (battery) of the same law.
Three military doctors were severely beaten by the restaurant's
security guards on June 17. One of them, Vahe Avetyan, died in hospital
twelve days later.
Six individuals have detained over the case. Some of them are said
to be the personal bodyguards of the restaurant's owner, Ruben
Hayrapetyan, who is also the president of the Football Federation
of Armenia.
