CATHOLICONS OF CILICIA URGES TO MULTIPLY AND ACCELERATE HUMANITARIAN AID TO SYRIA

YEREVAN, AUGUST 1, ARMENPRESS: His Holiness Aram I the Spiritual
Head of the Armenian Orthodox Church, Catholicosate of Cilicia and
a President of the Middle East Council of Churches, appealed to
all Ecumenical and Humanitarian Organizations to speed up aid to the
population in Syria. As information department of Catholicosate of the
Great House of Cilicia briefed Armenpress, His Holiness emphasized that
the assistance should be given to all regions of the Syrian Christians
and Muslims without discrimination between Christians and Muslims.
He again appealed to the Syrians to end violence and work towards
the unity of the people and dialogue between Christians and Muslims.
AS Armenpress reported earlier, Aram I Catholicos highlighted the
necessity of helping the Syrian Armenians.~SThe keeping viability
of Armenian communities in Middle East is a priority taking in to
consideration the most important and supreme interests of our nation.
Armenians in Lebanon remained strong during the war due to unity and
belief. The same must do Syrian Armenians. It is not the time to make
emotional announcements. We must support Armenians of Syria in order
they are able to overcome the difficulties~T said the Catholicos.
