THE COTTON PRODUCTION TO BE RESTORED IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, AUGUST 7, ARMENPRESS: Conditions are created for cotton
production and processing industry development in Armenia. The
investors show interest towards the cotton production started from
sowing process up to manufacturing phase.
Cotton processing plant called "Arakne" industrial enterprise was
established in Armenia. " Because of the expensive raw material this
branch is not being developed in Armenia, and we decided to create
economic basis by organizing the production in the place" Parvana
Finance Group " company president and "Arakne" enterprise director
Ashot Eranosyan told in the briefing with Armenpress.
The project is currently in pilot phase. Previous year 18 hectares of
cotton were sowed in Armavir province Mrgashat village jointly with
farmers. 2. 3 tons of cotton yield was recorded by an hectare . M
rgashat village head Gevorg Danielyan stated it was an average yield:
necessary equipment absence hindered getting good result.
A large quantity of cotton was produced in the Soviet years in Armenia,
which was being utilized in local textile production and was exported
to Central Asian countries. Cotton waste can be used in the production
of cellulose, the kernels can be used in vegetable oil, as well as
may be used as forage.
