Armenian national carrier Armavia experiences financial problems,
said Russia's Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Yuri Slusar.
"We are grateful to the company for buying two Sukhoi Superjet-100
aircrafts. It is a pity they refused the second one," he said in an
interview with the Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
Armavia was the first air company to purchase Sukhoi Superjet-100. At
the moment the aircraft is in Russia for the scheduled maintenance.
Speaking about Armavia's refusal to buy the second Sukhoi Superjet,
Slusar said the decision was conditioned by "company's financial
problems", also a shareholder changed.
A handover ceremony of the first Sukhoi Superjet-100 that arrived in
Armenia was held at the Zvartnots international airport in Yerevan
in April 2011. Currently the Superjet is operated only by two air
companies - Armavia and Aeroflot.
