The members of the initiative group "We Demand Punishing of All
Culprits of Incident at Harsnakar" and the initiative group of "Vahe
Avetyan" public movement have organized a protest action near the
building of the Special Investigation Service in Nalbandyan Street.
They demand that the investigative bodies should fairly investigate
the case of murder of medical officer Vahe Avetyan.
The protesters are holding relevant posters in their hands and chanting
"Nemets murder!" and "Nemets hooligan". The Nalbandyan-Khanjyan
crossroad is surrounded by policemen, whose number is twice as high
as the number of the protesters.
"We are going to fight till the end until all the culprits are brought
to responsibility. To all appearances, the Police are protracting
the case deliberately, trying to hush it up and leave the culprits
unpunished. However, the new civil society will not allow using these
methods, and our numerous protest actions and pickets aimed at bringing
Rouben Hayrapetyan to public responsibility are direct evidence of
that", Tigran Khzmalyan, filmmaker, member of the initiative group
of Sardarapat Movement, said to ArmInfo's correspondence.
To note, a memorial event dedicated to the medical officer Vahe Avetyan
severely beaten by the security guards of Harsnakar Restaurant Complex
took place in Avan community on August 7. The even was followed by
a procession to the private house of Rouben Hayrapetyan, the owner
of Harsnakar.
The doctors of the Yerevan military hospital of the Armenian Defense
Ministry, Edgar Mikoyan, Arkady Aghajanyan, Garik Soghomonyan, Artak
Bayadyan and Vahe Avetyan were beaten at Harsnakar on June 17. Vahe
Avetyan underwent brain surgery and died on August 29. A criminal
case on the fact of beating has been instituted. By the decision
of the court of general jurisdiction of Center and Nork-Marash
administrative districts of Yerevan, 6 people have been sentenced to
2-month imprisonment. The police have toughened the charges against
the persons arrested within the frames of the criminal case. A charge
has been filed under Article 112 (Part 2, Items 6 and 14), as well
as under Article 113 (Part1, Items 1 and 3) and Article 118 of the
Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
