Rescuers of Armenian Emergency Situation Ministry have been ready to
depart for quake-stricken Iran from the very first day of the
disaster, but Iran has not applied to Armenia for assistance, deputy
head of Rescue Service of the ministry Nikolay Grigoryan told Tert.am.
He said more probably the Armenian rescuers will not depart for Iran
as the search and rescue works there have already been completed.
As to the humanitarian aid, Grigoryan said it is the government to
decide to send it or not.
Spokesman for the Armenian prime minister Harutyun Berberyan was not
available for the comment.
For getting humanitarian aid, a country that suffered from disasters
applies to the international community. The UN, USA and Azerbaijan
have decided to send the humanitarian aid without waiting for Iran to
apply for it.
