Armenian ambassador to Iran visited Eastern Atrpatakan region suffered
from earthquake

YEREVAN, AUGUST 20, ARMENPRESS: Ambassador extraordinary and
plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Islamic Republic of Iran
Grigor Arakelyan during the meeting with governor of Eastern
Atrpatakan Alirezah Beygi in Tavriz conveyed the letters of
condolences of the heads of Armenian Syunik and Tavush region on
occasion of earthquake in Eastern Atrpatakan. Armenpress was informed
from Press, information and public relations department of Armenian
foreign affairs ministry that he had mentioned 5 Lorries entered into
Iran from the territory of Armenia in order to help suffered people.
The governor thanking for Armenian support and warm words mentioned
that in such situations the support from foreign countries is very
valuable and important.
The Governor informed that in result of the earthquake 314 villages of
Eastern Atrpatakan have been destroyed and the number of suffered
people exceeds 300 000. He also informed that now almost 74000 people
live in tent camps and construction works for providing with houses 22
000 people had already started.
