Ex-chief of Armenia's traffic police Margar Ohanyan, who was
imprisoned for huge embezzlement last year, has made a clemency plea
to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Azatutyun Radio reports, citing
its sources.
Ohanyan's lawyer Mkrtych Vasakyan told Tert.am that he got the
information from mass media.
`I am not informed that Margar Ohanyan made a clemency peal to
President Serzh Sargsyan. He has not told me. He could do that without
consulting his lawyer,' Vasakyan said.
Last August, Ohanyan was detained. This May he was sentenced to
6-years' imprisonment for huge embezzlement.
As to whether the former police official's plea will be answered,
Vasakyan said: `It is up to the amnesty commission and president to
decide. Nothing can be said before.'
