Jewish community head: Armenian Genocide recognition by Israel matter of time
August 23, 2012 - 16:52 AMT
PanARMENIAN.Net - Recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Israel is a
matter of time, head of Armenia's Jewish community said.
`While Jews tried hard to make the international community aware of
the fact of Holocaust, nobody talked about the Armenian Genocide. With
Genocide Memorial unveiled only 50 years after the atrocity, much
still remains to be done to achieve Armenian Genocide international
recognition,' Rimma Varzhapetyan told a news conference in Yerevan.
She further noted that every self-respecting Jewish oligarch will make
a donation to Institute on the Holocaust and Genocide.
`We ourselves must take active steps for other countries to follow our
suit,' Jewish community head said.
Israeli consul in the Caucasus Ron Schechter, in turn, highly assessed
Armenian-Israeli relations, saying, `Armenian embassy will be
established in Israel, once the latter opens diplomatic representation
in Yerevan.'
