Armenian-Israeli relations are warm: Israeli consul in Caucasus

YEREVAN, AUGUST 23, ARMENPRESS: The relations between Armenia and
Israel are rather warm and friendly. Armenpress reports that about
this mentioned Israeli consul in Caucasus Ron Shekhter during the
press conference on August 23. In his words the fact that there is not
an embassy of Israel in Armenia does not mean that the relations
between two countries can be considered as cold. Consul Ron Shekhter
is in Armenia on occasion of 20th anniversary of Israeli community as
well as in order to take part in festive events on that occasion.
`Israel gives great meaning how live Jewish people in Diaspora as
majority of them live outside of Israel' he said.
The Consul stressed that tonight Minister of Information and Diaspora
of Israel Yuli-Yoel Edelstein arrives in Armenia who will take part in
the events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Jewish community in
Armenia.
Head of Jewish community in Armenia Rima Varjapetyan mentioned that
Jewish people have rather good specialists in Armenia who had great
investment in the history of the country. `The visit of Jewish
delegation will last till August 26 after which the official meetings
wil be continued in Georgia' she said,
Around 1000 Jewish people live in Armenia today.
