Making public all the incidents in the military is impossible,
according to Artsrun Hovhannisyan, a spokesperson at the Ministry of
Defense.
Speaking to Tert.am on Friday, he said no country across the globe
reduces all acts of violence and cases of self-mutilation in the army
to the public domain.
`The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia has no obligation
to release a statement on all kinds of minor events,' he said. `The
Ministry of Defense carries out the protection of the Republic of
Armenia borders, which is the most important thing. In case of major
incidents, we issue relevant statements,' he said.
It comes after the local daily Zhoghovurd said in a recent report that
a servicemen in the Berdavan (Tavush) village was taken to a military
unit's first-aid post after shooting himself in the leg negligently.
Commenting on the report, Hovhannisyan said the servicemen now feels
better and is not facing any threats to health.
