Armenian president to attend Non-Aligned Movement summit
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan will attend the 16th summit of the
Non-Aligned Movement in Tehran on August 26-31, Armenian Ambassador to
Iran Grigor Arakelyan said today, RIA Novosti reports.
Ali Sayidlu, Chairman of the organization committee of the summit,
said that 150 states will attend the meeting, 51 of them will be
represented by presidents, prime ministers and foreign ministers.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Lebanese President Michel Suleiman,
Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, foreign ministers of Sudan and
Venezuela are among the attendants.
The Non-Aligned Movement has 120 members and about 20 observers,
including Armenia. The organization consists of states that belong to
no international blocs (such as the Warsaw Treaty Organization or
NATO).
