Any country has to withstand different challenges from time to time,
and Armenia is not an exception, head of the Center for Globalization
and Regional Cooperation, political scientist Stepan Grigoryan told
reporters today.
Speaking about the challenges facing Armenia, the political scientist
pointed to the relations with Georgia, the issues connected with Syria,
the presidential elections in the US.
According to Stepan Grigoryan, problems periodically emerge in
Armenian-Georgian relations, although Armenians and Georgians
are friendly nations and the new Ambassador to Georgia is actively
working. The political scientist added that Armenians of Russia should
not interfere with Armenian-Georgian relations.
According to the analyst, the positions of Armenians in Georgia
and the respect of Georgians for Armenians further reinforced after
Charles Aznavour's visit.
Touching upon the processes taking place in the Arab world and the
events in Syria, Stepan Grigoryan said: "Armenia reacted rather
adequately and cautiously to the processes in Syria, our government
demonstrated a very constructive position. According to him, it would
be incorrect for Armenians to move from Syria, as they have a great
heritage there.
As for the US elections, the political scientist said the victory of
the Republican Administration would be more favorable to us, since
they address issues of the world, including Armenia.
"From the point of view of security of state borders, the safety of
Nagorno Karabakh it will be hard for Armenia if only one force rules
in the region. Russia, the United States and the European Union should
have equal power in the region," he said.
As for the idea of creating a Eurasian Union, Stepan Grigoryan
considers it is another challenge to Armenia, since even Russia does
not understand well what the Eurasian Union is going to be like.
