TURKEY INVESTIGATES QUESTION OF STUDYING ARMENIAN GENOCIDE IN SCHOOLS IN FRANCE

The Turkish Foreign Ministry is investigating the issue of introducing
a section about the alleged "Armenian genocide" in high school history
textbooks by the French Ministry of Education, the Hurriyet newspaper
reported.
Turkish Ambassador to France Tahsin Burdzhuoglu said the embassy is
currently studying French school history and geography textbooks and
will prepare a detailed report that will be submitted to the Turkish
Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that the predecessor of Turkey
- the Ottoman Empire - had committed genocide in 1915 against the
Armenians living in Anatolia and have achieved recognition of the
"Armenian Genocide" by the parliaments of several countries.
