EIGHT CIS COUNTRIES MADE AIR DEFENSE DRILL NEAR MOSCOW

Military eight countries that are part of the unified air defense
system of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) today began a
large drill on the outskirts of Moscow, reported the Russian Defense
Ministry.
In exercises involving troops from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine, more than one hundred
aircraft, including the Su-27, MiG-29 and MiG-31 attack aircraft Su-
24 and Su-25 strategic bombers Tu-22, Tu-160 and Tu-95 and Ka-27
helicopters and Mi-8, said the spokesman of the Russian Aerospace
Defense Troops, Colonel Alexei Zolotukhin.
"These aircraft perform maneuvers in the airspace of Russia, Belarus,
Kazakhstan and Armenia acting as offenders or ships hijacked," he
said.
According to the script, use the potential enemy fighters, special
operations and military transport to fly over the borders of the CIS,
the aim of the air defenses will prevent incursions.
