Armenian parties are involved in European political decision making

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS: President of Armenian National
Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan on November 30 hosted President of European
People's Party Wilfried Martens. Jacek Saryusz-Wolski Vice President
of Euronest Parliamentary Assembly also partook at the meeting.
As Armenpress was informed from the informational and public relations
department of NA, greeting EPP President Hovik Abrahamyan noted that
the second visit of Mr. Martens to Armenia during this year was an
evidence that Armenia-EU relations had already strengthened and
deepened and assured that it would give a new impetus to the process
of Armenia becoming a member of big European family.
According to him 2012 has been a rather efficient year for the three
Armenian parties RPA, OEK and `Heritage' party which were involved in
EPP as an observer. In Hovik Abrahamyan's words membership of Armenian
parties in EPP is an important and crucial factor in the integration
process which proceeds from our common Christian heritage, as well as
from freedom, democracy and principals of human rights. Head of the
Parliament noted that Armenia led by Armenian President had made great
efforts during recent years for building democratic country based on
European values. Hovik Abrahamyan also underlined that Armenian NA
would spare no efforts for the further development of Armenia-EU
relations.
Wilfried Martens expressed gratitude for the reception noting that the
great progress and positive results were noticeable after his first
visit to Armenia. He also highly estimated the membership of three
Armenian parties in the EPP. He has gladly stated that from now on
Armenian parties will be actively involved in the European political
decision making process.
Interlocutors have also referred to the reforms being implemented in
Armenia, regional issues as well as other issues of bilateral
interests.
