The Georgian government is holding talks with Belarus, Armenia and
Azerbaijan to reduce customs duty on the citrus fruits. Earlier, the
agreement was reached with Ukraine on almost halving of the customs
duty (from 1 100 - to 600 USD per ton).

According to Agriculture Minister of Adjara Zaur Putkaradze, in
order to reduce the tax, negotiations are being held with Armenia,
Belarus and Azerbaijan, and the results will be known this week,
    Commersant reports.

The minister notes that a retail price of tangerines in the local
market makes 0.40 -0.70 GEL per kg ($1- 1,6573 on the current year).

80% of tangerines, lemons and oranges are grown in the Autonomous
    Republic of Adjara.

Earlier, it became known that this year in total 80 thousand tons
of citrus are expected to be harvested in Georgia which is 46% more
compared with the previous year and of a better quality as well. As
regards the citrus export, it will grow 3-4fold to 40,000 tons.
