Member of Heritage party Anahit Bakhshyan said she is rather
angry after the by-elections to Armenia's National Assembly in N1
constituency and considers it necessary to give hope to people.
"It is necessary to explain people that they should be the owners of
their rights. I want to say that if they continue electing in this way,
there will not be anything good," she said.
"It speaks about the weakness of the authorities," she told the
reporters on Tuesday.
In general, she said the citizens are rather passive as they have
lost their hope and belief.
According to initial calculations, at the electoral constituency in
Avan and Nor Nork Taron Margaryan's brother-in-law Robert Sargsyan,
from the ruling Republican party, has been elected. His contender
was Heritage party member Styopa Safaryan.
MP from the ruling Republican Party, Margarit Yesayan, present at the
news conference, said she is surprised that opposition is surprised.
"Being brother-in-law is not a political category and neither is a
sin. No matter who were the authorities today they would have done
everything for their candidate to pass," she said.
"Styopa Safaryan was a very good MP and I regret that he is not in
the parliament today. But normal elections have taken place and the
stronger candidate won," she said.
The MP also said the Republican party was strong in Avan for many
years and naturally their candidate was to win.
