ARMENIA-EU COOPERATION IS A OF A CERTAIN IMPORTANCE FOR UK

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS. The Chairman of the National Assembly
of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan hosted the Extraordinary
and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain
and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia Catherine Jane Lich.
The Department of Information and Public Relations of the National
Assembly of the Republic of Armenia informed "Armenpress" that
the Chairman of the Republic of Armenia greeted the ambassador and
stated that recently the Armenian-British cooperation is developing
and strengthening of reciprocal and comprehensive relations with the
United Kingdom is of a certain importance for the Republic of Armenia.
Hovik Abrahamyan underscored that the development of relations
with the EU member countries and European integration is one of the
priorities of the foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia. The Head
of the Parliament expressed a conviction that strengthening ties of
the legislative powers plays a significant role for the development
of the Armenian-British intergovernmental cooperation.
In turn Ambassador Lich expressed her gratitude for the reception
and emphasized the necessity of the development and strengthening
of the Armenian-British cooperation in various spheres and in this
respect the activation of interparliamentarian ties is of a certain
importance for both countries. Mrs. Lich put a heavy emphasis on
the fact that as an EU member country Great Britain supports the
development of Armenia-EU cooperation and efforts of the Armenian
side aimed to its strengthening.
In frames of the meeting the sides discussed regional issues including
the regulation of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Safarov's case and a
number of other questions.
