Panorama.am held an interview with member of Armenian National
Congress (ANC) parliamentary faction Lyudmila Sargsyan about the 2013
presidential elections, ANC's position and cooperation with other
political forces.
When asked whom ANC is going to nominate as a presidential candidate
if the negotiations with other political forces for nominating a
common opposition candidate fail, the MP said, "We do not discuss
"if." We rule out the possibility of "if." I should mention that ANC
has not held any discussion on candidates."
Mrs Sargsyan noted that despite the fact that there are many leaders
in Armenian National Congress, "the candidacy of Levon Ter-Petrosyan
is unsurpassable to her and several steps after him are unoccupied."
"Levon Ter-Petrosyan is so much that it seems that after him, no one
should have the possibility to see someone else as a presidential
candidate," said the MP.
When asked what if Prosperous Armenia leader Gagik Tsarukyan decides
to run for president but not as a common candidate, Lyudmila Sargsyan
said, "I do not want to underestimate Gagik Tsarukyan. He has merits
both in his party and in public life. But the President is something
different to me and I see only Levon Ter-Petrosyan in the role of
President."
We will remind that ANC parliamentary faction head Levon Zurabyan
yesterday answered media questions about the 2013 presidential
elections, ANC's position and its cooperation with other political
forces.
When asked if it is true that ANC has discussed that if the
negotiations for nominating a common candidate fail, ANC will nominate
Hrant Bagratyan as a presidential candidate, Levon Zurabyan said,
"Armenian National Congress has not had such discussion and everybody
understands that it is still early to discuss such issues. During our
discussions, we should not proceed from the failure of negotiations.
We will discuss such issues when the negotiations are over."
Zurabyan added that he could not say when the negotiations would be
finalized and called on not to hurry - everything will be announced
in due time.
