ARMENIAN NPP RESUMES ELECTRICITY GENERATION AFTER REPAIRS

The only active reactor at the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant has resumed
electricity production after the completion of repairs, the Energy and
Natural Resources press secretary, Lusine Arutyunyan, told Interfax.
The NPP was launched ahead of schedule on November 28.
All the planned work to increase safety at the NPP and use new
nuclear fuel was fully carried out, she said. The reactor body and
the generator's third turbine received an overhaul
The repairs had been expected to run from September 15 to December 11.
The NPP processes 90-100 nuclear fuel cassettes annually, which are
supplied by Russia's TVEL.
