Vice Speaker of Armenian Parliament Edward Sharmazanov will be severely
criticized by hundreds of thousands of Armenian citizens because of
his unacceptable remarks about the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and
its Leader Gagik Tsarukyan, Tigran Urikhanyan, the PAP Spokesperson,
told ArmInfo.
He failed to answer the question whether the latest conflict between
the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and the PAP may cause final
severance of relations between the two parties. "One thing is clear:
by throwing down a gage to Prosperous Armenia, the Republicans toss
a challenge to hundreds of thousands of Armenian citizens", he said.
To note, the latest conflict between the two parties broke out due
to the PAP Leader Gagik Tsarukyan's statement in Brussels: "the
anti-corruption fight in Armenia cannot be effective, as corrupt
officials themselves fight corruption in the republic". In response,
Vice Speaker of the Parliament, Spokesperson of the Republican Party
of Armenia (RPA), Edward Sharmazanov, said that Gagik Tsarukyan's
statements and speeches are shame and mummery. "However, the first blow
is just at the PAP and its leader, as not everything is justified and
there are cases, which one should keep silent about. We do not tell
that many European deputies think that the PAP is an artificial party,
do we? The deputies the PAP leader met during his visit to Brussels,
think that his international political knowledge is weak. We do not
tell either that in Europe they think that Tsarukyan reached success
in the policy thanks to populism. We do not tell that for this reason,
taking into consideration this fact, our European counterparts refused
to meet Tsarukyan, or that the PAP organized an emotional performance
in which certain "Armenian guys" took part", said Sharmazanov.
In the meantime, Sharmazanov advises not to consider his statement
through the prism of the forthcoming presidential elections. He
abstained from comments on whether Tsarukyan's statement is a message
demonstrating that the PAP has finally burnt the bridges with the
ruling RPA and will not support the ruling party's candidate at the
upcoming elections.
