YERVANT ZORIAN, CHIEF ARCHITECT AT SYNOPSYS, NAMED THE GENERAL CHAIR OF THE 50TH DESIGN AUTOMATION CONFERENCE (DAC)

Yervant Zorian, chief architect in the Solutions Group, will lead
the 50th Design Automation Conference (DAC) executive committee for
next year's conference, to be held at the Austin Convention Center
(TX,USA) from June 2 to 6, 2013.
"We are proud to have such a respected, distinguished individual of
the Synopsys team lead the 50th DAC," said Joachim Kunkel, SVP and
GM of the Solutions Group in his congratulatory note. "DAC is our
industry's premiere yearly event, and I look forward to an exciting
conference program and exhibition under Yervant's stewardship."
Earlier this year EE Times posted an article about Yervant's
prestigious appointment. The executive editor of EE Times, Nicolas
Mokhoff, commented: "This is a fitting tribute to the 50th DAC; that
is, having a most respectful and courteous professional being general
chair. His indefatigable and relentless pursuit to better the world of
design and test has earned him the EDA industry's full honor. I wish
Yervant Zorian the best in making the half century mark of the premiere
design automation conference a truly unforgettable occasion..."
Yervant Zorian received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
fromMcGillUniversity, an MBA from the Wharton School of
Business of theUniversityofPennsylvania, and an MSCE in from
theUniversityofSouthern California. Zorian has served as a DAC
executive committee member for the past seven years. He has authored
four books and more than 300 refereed papers. He has received more
than 30U.S.patents in the domain of embedded test and repair, and a
number of Best Paper Awards. As the general chair of the 50th DAC,
he believes that next year's conference will mark a major milestone
in innovation.
"For 50 years, DAC has been the key event for the electronic design,
embedded systems and design automation communities to meet, learn
and discover new research, new products, and new developments,"
Yervant said in a DAC press release. "As we begin to plan DAC's
50th Anniversary inAustin, the executive committee is committed to
providing attendees with an enhanced overall experience at both the
exhibition and technical conference. We are looking forward to an
exciting event to celebrate 50 years of innovation and research."
In November 2012, Yervant Zorian was announced the winner of
the Synopsys Fellow Award which recognizes individuals who excel
technically in their fields of expertise. Drawing on his customer
skills, Yervant has been instrumental at expanding the penetration
of our STAR Memory System at several new customers, such as Apple,
Intel,Hitachi, LSI, Renesas, Samsung, ST, TSMC and UMC.
