Greens are ready to organize Trchkan 2 campaign

The residents of Getahovit are against the project to build a
Khachaghbyur 2 small water power plant in their community.
One of them Ghazar Yengibaryan told journalists on Friday that they
are going to campaign against the project. "If our opinion is left
unheard, we will block the road leading to the site," the protester
said.
Well-known green activist Mariam Sukhudyan said that the greens are
ready to help. "We are ready to organize a campaign similar to the one
organized against the Trchkan project," she said.
The plant is being built by Megaenergy CJSC. The greens say that the
contractor has cut down lots of trees in the territory of the Ijevan
and Turkish Hazel Alley nature reserves and has diverted the Agstev
river leaving the residents of Getahovit with almost no drinking
water.
Oct 26 Armenia's Environment Protection Minister Aram Harutyunyan
declared void the report on the project's impacts on the environment.
