Georgia's former Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili has given a false
testimony in the criminal case over his attempted escape from the
country with a fake passport, RIA Novosti reported.
`Despite the irrefutable proofs and witness evidence that stand in
stark contrast to Merabishvili's testimony, the former premier refused
once again to cooperate with the investigative body. He intentionally
submitted a false report in an attempt to hamper the efforts towards
uncovering the objective truth," says a statement by the Georgia's
Ministry of Interior.
Considering the public interest in the case, the Ministry has promised
to make the facts public in the coming days.
Merabishbili was earlier reported to have attempted to use his fake
passport for visiting Yerevan with an official delegation.
The ex-official himself considers the proceeding a pressure against him.
