Islamic Republic News Agency IRNA, Iran
Dec 9 2012
Iranian Defence Minister Brig-Gen Ahmad Vahidi has described relations
with neighbouring Azerbaijan as "good" despite a recent report that
the latter is flying Israeli-made spy drones along its border with
Iran, IRNA news agency reported on 9 December.
Speaking at a news conference after a parliamentary session in Tehran
on 9 December, Brig-Gen Ahmad Vahidi acknowledged a recent report
that Azerbaijan is using Israeli-made drones to monitor its borders
with Iran and Azerbaijan's breakaway Armenia-controlled Karabakh. He
added that he had no further news regarding the report.
"We have good relations with Azerbaijan and there is no problem
between the two countries," IRNA quoted Vahidi as saying.
Vahidi also said that Iran is aware of the activities of
"trans-regional forces", including those of US troops.
"Activities such as crossing borders can be problematic. Iran gives
warnings when dealing with these kinds of situations. Iran is aware
of the activities of trans-regional forces, including the activities
of American troops," the news agency quoted him as saying.
