NORAVANK FOUNDATION'S DIRECTOR MAKES WRONG FORECAST, PROVIDES FURTHER CLARIFICATION
TERT.AM

Director of Noravank Foundation Gagik Harutyunyan, speaking about
Armenia's membership to the Eurasian Union, said that according to
some forecasts the countries that will join the Eurasian Union will
have 15% GDP growth.
The figure though raised Tert.am's doubt, which proved to be grounded.
The Eurasian Union first of all envisages membership of the CIS
countries while according to the statistics, the economic growth
of the CIS countries in the past four years (2008-2011) was 1.95%
and 4.1% growth was expected for 2012.
Speaking to Tert.am, Gagik Harutyunyan said he had been mistaken by
not mentioning a date as he meant that the states will register 15%
GDP growth by 2015.
Nevertheless, speaking to reporters today, Gagik Harutyunyan said, it
is very dangerous to work in one direction only. "We should carry out a
wider policy both regarding the EU and Eurasian Union," he said, adding
that there will be issues in different spheres but no serious dangers.
The speaker said Armenia should work in two directions. "I am very
happy to see that a number of the EU figures are interested to see
Armenia among their rows," Harutyunyan said.
