Representatives of Prosperous Armenia are refusing to comment on the
decision of their leader Gagik Tsarukyan that he will not run for
presidency in Feb 2013. Some of them are not picking up the phone.
Experts are also silent, while the leader of the pro-Kocharyan wing of
Prosperous Armenia, the United Labor Party Gurgen Arsenyan has said
that he has no opinion concerning Tsarukyan's decision.
Earlier in the day Gagik Tsarukyan said that his party would have no
candidate during the Feb 2013 presidential election, nor would it
support any other candidate.
Tsarukyan's statement was contrary to earlier reports by Prosperous
Armenia members that they were going to nominate him for presidency.
While meeting with voters in Vanadzor Tsarukyan said that he would not
betray his voters even if ousted and oppressed. Later in Brussels he
criticized the Armenian authorities for being ineffective in fighting
corruption. All that suggested that he was inclined to run for
presidency.
