Yerevan-based Zatik Children's Home will close down soon. For 19
years, the centre has housed orphaned and beggar children of the
Armenian capital.
Director of the children's home Ashot Mnatsakanyan says the orphanage
opened when Armenia and its people were living through hard times:
people passed through many ordeals and survived a devastating
earthquake, war and blockade. There were numerous beggar and orphan
children in the streets in those days.
Mr Mnatsakanyan says the closure of the children's home is an
imperative today. the building will be transferred to an alternative
structure.
