The extraordinary, 14th congress of the Republican Party of Armenia,
has launched today at Yerevan Karen Demirtchyan sport and concert
complex.
The agenda's issue is nomination of Armenia's President, leader of the
party Serzh Sargsyan for the upcoming presidential elections.
Elections of the calculating commission and secretariat are also
scheduled.
Party members, journalists, official guests and President Serzh
Sargsyan have gathered in the complex. Among the invitees are
representatives of the Communist Party of China, and Russia's Edinaya
Rossia. Earlier, Republican party's faction head Galust Sahakyan said
they have invited those political forces with which they are
cooperating.
Among the parliamentary forces present are representatives of the Rule
of Law and Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF). Armenian National
Congress (ANC) and Prosperous Armenia party (PAP) are not invited.
Galust Sahakyan said not inviting the PAP does not mean anything. `I
do not think that in such political situation the inviting or not
inviting them solves anything. We have invited those political forces
which have agreed to come to a certain agreement for the the good
conduction of elections,' he said.
