"This is the new Armenia, period.
"This is the Armenia with human rights and democracy, period.
"This is the Armenia with rule of law, period...," 4 days after the
speech of the president, Mher Sedrakyan, a Republican Party of Armenia
(RPA) MP, threatens to break A1+ journalist Mher Arshakyan's jaw,
"Get out of here, or else I will break your jaw."
Human rights advocate Vardan Harutyunyan's impression is the following,
"While talking about Armenia, the president was talking about Norway
and Canada, where there are no breaches of law, our current oligarchs,
MPs, where there is no permissiveness, which has been created by the
country's president himself."
According Mr. Harutyunyan, the Republican MP's behavior today
contradicts the claims made by the President of the Republic of
Armenia, "That incident testifies to the contradiction between what
he said and our reality. The president chose, picked people of that
very level, and he appears to the world through those people. There
are signs of permissiveness in the Republican Party, but I don't
want to attribute that to the party, they are beyond any party,
the Republican Party. That is how they are; they just act under the
Republican flag today. The president should start the struggle against
permissiveness from his entourage. We can see both his family members
and his fellow party members."
