IRANIAN AMBASSADOR TO ARMENIA: "IRAN IS WILLING TO DEVELOP COOPERATION WITH ARMENIA IN ALL AREAS ON MUTUAL INTERESTS"

Iranian Ambassador to Yerevan Mohammad Raeesi said on Thursday that
the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes expansion of ties with Armenia.

He said that Iran is willing to develop cooperation with Armenia in
all areas on mutual interests.
He made the remark during his tour of Yerevan College for International
Relations Studies.
The ambassador said that given the historical record of relations
and the cultural affinities with Armenia, Iran attaches importance
to upgrade economic cooperation with Armenia.
He said that Iran and Armenia enjoy longstanding relations, adding
that Iran was the first country which recognized independence of the
Republic of Armenia in 1990.
He added that during the past 22 years since the formation of the
Republic of Armenia, officials of both countries have been steadily
working to expand ties in many fields.
Highlighting the joint projects underway by the two countries, he
said that Iran and Armenia have developed partnership in construction
of a hydroelectric power plant on Iran-Armenia border and building
Iran-Armenia-Georgia railway and export of oil by-products as the
other projects under operation.
