Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry: Serzh Sargsyan's speech contains
    misinformation and populism

Elman Abdullayev: `Such statements show that the Armenian leadership
is interested in the maintenance of the status quo, does not think
about the welfare of the region or its country'

Baku. Viktoriya Dementyeva - APA. `The statement made by Armenian
President Serzh Sargsyan at the meeting of the Collective Security
Treaty Organization contained misinformation and populism,' spokesman
for Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev told APA.

He said that with such speeches Sargsyan attempts to mislead the world
    community.

`Azerbaijan's position on this issue had been previously expressed
presicely. We consider that in order to solve the conflict the root of
the problem must be looked into. The occupation of the Azerbaijani
territories by Armenia stands in the root of the problem. This
occupation impedes the development of the entire region,' he said.

Elman Abdullayev called populism Sargsyan's accusations against
Azerbaijan regarding anti-Armenian propaganda and militarist policy.

`The Armenian leadership tries to simulate interest in the solution of
the conflict. Such statements show that the Armenian leadership is
interested in the maintenance of the status quo, does not think about
the welfare of the region or its country,' he said.

Elman Abdullayev added they regret that the international community
    keeps silence.

Serzh Sargsyan addressed the meeting of the Collective Security Treaty
Organization on December 19. He said Azerbaijan's destructive position
on Nagorno Karabakh conflict remains a serious threat to the region.
