The name "Azerbaijan" did not exist in history

Vice President of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of
Mili Mejlis of Iran Islamic Republic Mansour Haghighatpur said that
there was no name `Azerbaijan' in the history and that it is a fake
name.
Iranian MP noted: `According to historical documents the land North to
Araks River was called Aran and the land to the South was called
Azarbaijan. Aran and Azarbaijan were parts of Iran. Araks River was
renamed to Azerbaijan; there was one purpose to name Northern and
Southern parts of Araks River Northern and Southern Azerbaijan.
Democratic party was created for that purpose which had an aim to
divide Iranian Azerbaijan'.
Remind that recently head of Defense Army HQ of Iran Islamic Republic
general of a brigade Seed Hasan Firuzabani had called Azerbaijan Aran
in his address to Ilham Aliyev concerning anti-Islamic policy:
`Iranian MPs and analyzers call Aran talking about the creation of
Azerbaijan Republic and note: `Present Azerbaijan's territory had
another historical name. According to Turkmencha and Gulistan
agreements lands in Northern Araks separate from Iran, inhabited by
shias, become under the Russian governance. On 1911 Musavat party is
created in Baku which was founded by Rasul Zadeh, Kazem Zadeh and
Sharif Zadeh, coming out of Pan-Turkism ideology, were sponsored by
the Ottoman Turkey and in 1918 the land between Aran and Shirvan a
republic was declared which was given `Azerbaijan Republic' fake
name".
