YEREVAN. - Armenian-American Wellness Center (Mammography Center)
Foundation Director Khachanush Hakobyan underscored the importance
    of annual medical checkups.

"The number of our visitors increases every year. More people learn
about the disease [that is, cancer] and receive treatment," she added
during a press conference on Wednesday.

"More people have visited our center this year as compared with 2011.

We have had 235,000 visitors to date. Over the course of the
fifteen-year activity of the center, 279,419 checkups were conducted,
160,447 of which [were] breast cancer [examinations]. Breast cancer
was found among 6,797 visitors. We are happy that more people are
getting diagnosed, being treated on a daily basis, and we are able
    to save lives," Hakobyan noted.

Also, she highlighted the need for annual medical checkups. "We
should not forget that the breast is the most susceptible part of a
woman's body. A checkup should be conducted each year," Khachanush
    Hakobyan concluded.
