FIFTEEN SYRIAN ARMENIANS ALREADY EMPLOYED BY HEALTHCARE CENTERS IN ARMENIA
YEREVAN, December 26. /ARKA/. Fifteen Syrian Armenians are already
employed by healthcare establishments in Armenia, Armenian Health
Minister Derenik Dumanyan said Wednesday at a news conference. Half
of them are successfully working in provinces.
The minister said that Armenian provinces are still in want of
medical specialists.
"There are 86 doctors per every 10,000 people in Yerevan, while
in province only 17.7," he said adding that 259 doctor jobs remain
vacant in provinces. Anesthesiologists, pediatricians, cardiologists,
neurologists, surgeons, obstetrician-gynecologists are highly demanded
in provincial medical centers.
"We have sent 25 young specialists to provinces in September and
other 29 to regions for one-to-three-month terms," he said.
Duman said that the problem can be solved by increasing the number
of state-paid students in the Yerevan State Medical University to
send them to provinces after graduation. -0-
