ArmInfo-Turan. Political quarters of Azerbaijan call for war for
Nagorno Karabakh, in particular, the recent forum "Solidarity for
Karabakh" was on the Karabakh issue, Turan reports. Alliance for Free
Karabakh comprising 14 NGOs organized the event. Opening the forum,
one of the initiators, Head of the Karabakh Liberation Organization
(KLO) Akif Nagi said that the event was timed to the Days of
Solidarity of the World Azerbaijanis marked on December 31.
"It is a message for the Azerbaijani Diaspora to boost efforts to draw
the world community's attention at the Karabakh conflict and develop a
single stance in the public. Isa Gambar, Leader of Musavat Party,
said, in turn, that Azerbaijanis have a single stance on the Karabakh
issue and they have not refused from "their lands."
Gambar said that the Karabakh conflict can be resolved by peace
efforts. The point is who and how holds negotiations. He blamed the
authorities' policy in the given issue and said that people meet with
derision the constant statements that "different measures will be
taken, if necessary".
"The Karabakh issue is turning into the Palestinian issue. Palestine
is supported at least by Arab states, while no one support us," said
Leader of the United People's Front Party of Azerbaijan Gudrat
Hasanguliyev. He believes that in case of war, Russia and Iran will
support Armenia. Hasanguliyev casts doubt on possibility of settling
the conflict through negotiations if democratic forces come in power.
He believes that "restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity is
real if the people insistently demand the authorities to liberate the
occupied territories by force."
For his part, Vice Chairman of the United People's Front Party of
Azerbaijan Nureddin Mamdli said that official Baku uses the Karabakh
issue to retain power and avoid democratic reforms.
