Syunik Region's grazing lands not given to Iran - Armenian Deputy PM

YEREVAN. - There is no formal document with respect to leasing the
grazing lands of Syunik Region to Iran, Armenia's Deputy PM and
Territorial Administration Minister Armen Gevorgyan said during a
press conference on Friday.
To note, there were media reports, according to which the aforesaid
grazing lands are to be allocated to Iranian farmers for five years,
and to keep 5,000 livestock. The source of this information is IRNA
News Agency of Iran. According to the report, in return for the
grazing lands, Iran will provide agricultural equipment to, and set up
a meat processing facility in, Armenia.
As per Gevorgyan, such ideas do exist, as different investors offer a
variety of programs, but there is no document concerning Syunik Region
in particular.
`Armenia needs all its grazing lands, and we will do everything to
make maximum use of them,' the Deputy PM noted.
