Sarkis Petrosyan, born and raised in Yerevan Armenia, is considered
one of the pre-eminent Armenian Santour musicians, having studied at
the Komitas Conservatory and the Romanos Melikian Conservatory in
    Armenia.
Sarkis joined the Armenian Philharmonic and founded the Armenian Folk
Music Orchestra and the Tkzar Folk Orchestra. He has toured
extensively throughout the Soviet Union with the Armenia Philharmonic.
The Santour is in the same family of instruments as the hammered
dulcimer. The Santour has approximately 100 strings played with a pair
of curved wooden sticks. Its many strings create an immense variety of
resonating sounds which fill the air like waves with a variety of
    tonal effects.
Sarkis will share his spiritual musical journey with a blend of
traditional, classical and Armenian folk music. The concert includes a
wide variety of music ranging from the 12th to 20th century.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Please note that this
will be an intimate concert. Since the recital hall can only
accommodate 60 people reservations are encouraged.
