RED CROSS EMPLOYEES VISIT AZERBAIJANI POW IN NAGORNO-KARABAKH

    Trend
    31 January 2012

Employees of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
visited Azerbaijani POW kept in Nagorno-Karabakh on Jan.30, the ICRC
Baku Office Spokesperson Shahla Gahramanova told Trend on Tuesday.

He said the ICRC employees delivered a "Red Cross" letter to the POW,
and received a "Red Cross" letter from him. The POW's family was
    informed about the meeting.

Junior sergeant of Azerbaijani Armed Forces was captivated near the
Yukhary Chayli village on the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian
troops. Azerbaijani Defense Ministry also confirmed the fact.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988
when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian
armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992,
including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The
co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. -
are currently holding the peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four
resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the
    surrounding regions.
