YEREVAN, JANUARY 31, ARMENPRESS: The adoption of the bill penalizing
the denial of the Armenian Genocide by the France's Senate is
a response to Turkey which is trying to speak in a language of
ultimatum. Turkologist Levon Hovsepyan noted that the threats voiced by
Turkey addressed to France will first of all harm Turkey in political
and economic respects. "Turkey is in a complicated situation connected
with Iran as well. On one hand it cannot ignore Iran and on the other
the West," the Turkologist said. Turkey is trying to hold a double
game for its own security. "The policy of that country is like the
behavior of a petulant boy. Its opportunities are quite limited,"
Hovsepyan said.
He stressed that in reality Turkey can do nothing as there are fixed
borders which it does not have right to cross.
