ARMENIA IS SURMOUNTING NATIONAL SECURITY THREATS, CHALLENGES - SECURITY COUNCIL SECRETARY

YEREVAN. - Armenia is in favor of a dignified cooperation with the
regional countries and of resolving the existing problems by way of
mutually acceptable methods, Armenia's National Security Council (NSC)
Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan said Tuesday during a seminar entitled
"South Caucasus: New Challenges."
Baghdasaryan noted that Armenia is surmounting its national security
threats and the present-day challenges. NSC Secretary also underscored
the need to guarantee to the three regional countries-Armenia,
Georgia, and Azerbaijan-equal international opportunities for economic
development, and the impermissibility of regional projects that
bypass Armenia.
In their presentations, German Ambassador Hans-Jochen Schmidt and US
Ambassador John Heffern stressed the importance of securing a climate
of peace and understanding in the region.
