The Collective Security Treaty Organization does not participate in the
resolution of conflicts in CSTO member states," CSTO Secretary General
Nikolay Bordyuzha said during the Moscow-Yerevan-Astana-Kiev-Chisinau
space bridge.
"If the question refers concretely to the Karabakh issue, our
position is as follows: we do not interfere with the process of
conflict resolution. Understanding that Armenia is our partner, I
should not that there exist international mechanisms. The conflict is
being settled within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia is
organizing trilateral meetings. That means there is no necessity of
creating new formats or attracting other organizations. There are
mechanisms targeted at the resolution of that complex conflict,"
he said.
How will CSTO react, if the parties to the Karabakh conflict face a
crisis? "As a full-fledged member of the CSTO Armenia is obliged to
provide assistance to any country in crisis, and has the right to
get necessary support from its allies," Bordyuzha said.
He recalled that the organization has not only military, but also
political and peacekeeping potential." Armenia will get the required
assistance as full members of CSTO," he concluded.
