'Today South Caucasus region is like a powder keg'
Thu 05 January 2012 05:38 GMT | 7:38 Local Time
If no progress will be in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict, there is no doubt that unpleasant events will happen.
The statement came from head of the Caucasus Strategic Researches
Center, political scientist Hasan Ogtay from Ankara, Gun.Az reports.
'Today the South Caucasus region is like a powder keg and one spark is
enough to turn the region into a fire of warfare. Protraction of the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and non-constructive position of the
Armenian government, in particular, aggravates the situation even
more', Ogtay noted.
The political scientist added that the French Parliament's certain
decision may affect the settlement of the conflict.
'Since, this decision can be nothing but a political and moral support
to Armenia. We should openly say that this decision aggravates the
settlement of the already deteriorating Nagorno-Karabakh conflict'.
