Friday, January 6
In 2011 Armenia was visited by around 800,000 tourists. Tourists flock
to Armenia from Georgia, Iran, Turkey, some European countries and the
USA. According to official data however most of the visitors coming to
Armenia are ethnic Armenians. Therefore most of the visitors coming to
the country stay with relatives and friends, rather than in hotels.
Only 13% of tourists see Armenia as a holiday place to visit. And only
around 5% visit Armenia for reasons of receiving medical support or
education there.
