93 FILMS TO COMPETE AT NATIONAL FILM AWARD CEREMONY

About 93 films will compete at the national film award ceremony which
will be conducted in Armenia for the first time. Gevorg Gevorgyan,
the Director of the National Film Center told Armenpress that feature,
documentary and animation films are presented. The event is scheduled
for the period of March 15-20.
The staff of the jury is already known, it will be headed by Armenia's
People's Artist Sos Sargsyan. The prize of the National Film will
be granted as a result of voting. In the first phase the jury will
select 2-3 films in each nomination. In the second phase the awardees
will be decided. The awards will be given in 12 nominations - "Best
Feature Film," "Best Director," "Best Operator", "Best Scenarist",
"Best Artist", "Best Music," "Best Women's Role", "Best Men's Role",
"Best Animation Film," "Best Debut", "Best Short-Length Film." Besides
the main nominations, a special prize will be awarded for the
contribution to the development of Armenian film.
Gevorg Gevorgyan said every year during the award ceremony the jury
will assess the films shot during the previous year. Only the first
ceremony will be exclusion: it will sum up the film production of
Armenia of the passed 20 years.
